The Wine Talks with André Sauerbier
André Sauerbier has been part of the Dutch wine world for more than thirty years. After a career in the financial sector, he made the move into wine in the early 1990s. A decision that would eventually lead to a diverse career as a wine professional, entrepreneur, educator and consultant.
In 1997, André founded Het Wijninstituut, through which he played an important role in the development of wine education in the Netherlands for many years. He also spent ten years working with Perswijn and has advised various companies and organisations within the wine industry. His career has taken him beyond tasting rooms and classrooms: he also spent a year working at a wine estate in Provence.
Today, André spends much of his time in the South of France, surrounded by the vineyards of Provence. His involvement in the wine world, however, remains as strong as ever. He continues to closely follow developments in the international wine industry and regularly shares his views on viticulture, wine education, marketing and the challenges facing the sector.
In this episode of The Wine Talks, we sit down with André to look back on more than thirty years in wine. We talk about how the Dutch wine scene has evolved, the importance of wine education, his years with Het Wijninstituut and Perswijn and, of course, his love for France.
A conversation with someone who has not only witnessed decades of change in the wine world, but has spent much of his career right at the heart of it.
